In an effort to support the acceleration of the development of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan by the government, Agung Podomoro, a leading, integrated, and trusted property developer in Indonesia, continues to strengthen its commitment by developing high-quality housing with high standards at the gateway to IKN, namely the cities of Balikpapan and Samarinda.

Agung Podomoro believes that the focus on accelerating this development will provide positive signals for businesspeople to seize investment opportunities, especially in the property sector, and improve the economy both locally and nationally.

Agung Wirajaya, Corporate Marketing Director of PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk., explained that as a company with extensive experience in the national property industry, Agung Podomoro is adept at identifying market opportunities. This is reflected in the property products in the East Kalimantan region, which are always in demand by the market.

The hope is that Agung Podomoro's property projects will not only accelerate economic growth but also enhance the quality of life for the community. Thus, they can contribute to supporting the development of a modern and globally competitive IKN.

"With the gradual increase in population moving to IKN, the demand for housing is also rising in the IKN area and its surrounding cities. We see this as a promising captive market and an instant home and business base solution to meet the housing needs and the needs of businesspeople who will start businesses at the gateway to IKN," Agung explained in his official statement in Jakarta (June 2).

Agung stated that as part of the property sector business players, Agung Podomoro sees the development of IKN creating a broad domino effect economically, socially, and culturally.

Examples include creating job opportunities, increasing demand for raw materials, infrastructure development, and more. This aligns with data from the East Kalimantan Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS), which states that as one of the largest provinces in Indonesia, East Kalimantan's economic growth has increased rapidly, growing 7.26 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024.

"In response to the high demand for high-quality housing in East Kalimantan, Agung Podomoro continues to develop sustainable and innovative existing property projects at the gateway to IKN. We also provide various financing conveniences through collaborations with banks and government incentive support, aimed at helping the community more easily access Agung Podomoro's property products," said Agung.

Yenti Lokat, Deputy Marketing Director of PT Agung Podomoro Land Tbk., explained that long before the government's IKN development, Agung Podomoro had seen the great potential of East Kalimantan, particularly in the cities of Balikpapan and Samarinda, which serve as gateway buffer cities to IKN.

"Currently, there are already two property projects we have developed in East Kalimantan, and these two property projects are ready and soon to be occupied by buyers. The large-scale migration from Java to Kalimantan, especially Balikpapan and Samarinda, due to the IKN development, has become a strong magnet attracting entrepreneurs and businesspeople from across Indonesia. This situation can drive significant demand for Agung Podomoro's property products in East Kalimantan," explained Yenti.

According to Consolidated Net Data (DKB) issued by the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration of the Ministry of Home Affairs after the IKN location was established, the population of Balikpapan City has increased by approximately 1.4 percent annually. This means that the population continues to grow, and the economy expands in line with the acceleration of IKN development.

Therefore, Yenti said, Agung Podomoro continues to develop adaptive and innovative property projects in line with market needs. These include the Borneo Bay City Balikpapan
